Toronto Biobuild Collective Mock-up Project onboarding

The Toronto BioBuild Collective (TBC) is launching a collaborative project with several leading architecture firms to explore and prototype bio-based building envelope systems.

Each firm is developing a mock-up of a wall assembly that aligns with their real-world design practice, whether it is supportive housing, community centres, healthcare towers, or zero-carbon buildings.

We are seeking volunteers to support the development and implementation of this work.

What You Will Do

Volunteers will support research, design, coordination, and storytelling efforts from August through November, followed by the physical construction of the mock-ups.

Tasks may include:

  • Researching material options and performance data

  • Drafting and visualizing wall assemblies

  • Assisting with documentation, graphics, and media

  • Contributing to outreach, storytelling, and communications

No prior experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to collaborate!

Why Join?

  • Be part of a growing movement toward circular, regenerative construction

  • Learn how to work with low-carbon, bio-based materials

  • Contribute meaningfully to the future of sustainable design in Canada
